Corrections to Sandy's assignment

Question 6

The machine pictured is the visually impaired reader which makes book text larger on the screen so visually impaired students can view book or article material has been moved downstairs to the testing center because they needed it for a student who needed to take some tests.

The options listed do not include what the machine is, but I think she wants them to pick microfiche reader.

Question 7

The picture of the sign used for the periodical shelving is no longer in the library.

The question itself is just asking what general area of the library they are in and we have been telling them the periodical section.

Question 10

The Galileo interface has changed from the instructions. There is no way to access the Social Science Information Gateway by going through the Sociology link on the start page.

Lead them to it this way:

Click into Galileo. In the Yellow bar at the top click on Databases A-Z; in the alphabetical list click the S; in the resulting list go down to the Social Science information Gateway and click that link.

Once they are in the Gateway...have them follow the rest of the instructions she has.

Question ? (I didn’t write down the number)

There was another question with the HM216 call number where they are to us the library of congress website.

It’s a little confusing because most to the students who have talked with us have been clicking the HM link on the pdf that comes up when you click the H off the webpage. On the HM page the numbering starts with 401 because the LC is a guide and libraries have the ability to create their own call numbers (thus the 216).

The answers have sociology and social pathology as to possible answers so we are telling them to identify the general subject area.

This is not the first semester we have encountered old information on the quiz.

Correction on #6 - A student just showed me the photo for #6 and it is of the two VHS/DVD players just outside the Copier room door. Sandy must have corrected the photo that you saw of the reader that is no longer in the library. The answer can be C or D, since it plays both VHS (C) and DVD (D)
