The new image is being loaded on the desktops this week and should be completed by Friday, 8/15/08. Some changes to take note of:
- Browsers: IE and Firefox; the start up function will execute IE, users can select Firefox as an alternate browser
- Browsers: tabbed browsing
- mailto: link has been disabled, users will need to open their own web based email account to send email
- Private data/Auto complete: disabled, no forms should retain previously entered text
- Inactive programs: no changes; no access to notepad, WordPad, or games
- Start menu: only current functions are displayed
- Viewers: Word, PowerPoint, Excel viewers have been installed, users will be able to open and view documents to print; editing is not permitted
- SmartPrint: new version installed, B&W is the default printer
- Monitor: sleeps after a certain inactivity period has passed, users can move the mouse to activate the monitor
- Auto shut down: desktop programmed to automatically shut down at closing time, users are warned 15 mins before shut down
